A child-friendly way to understand family law

When your child or children is involved in a family law matter, it can be a confusing and emotional time for everyone. Separation can leave children feeling uncertain, confused and frustrated and they may often struggle to understand what is happening.

To support children through this process and to help make things easier, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia have created a special website just for little kids called “Kids’ Corner’.

Developed by children themselves, it includes simple, child friendly resources like short animations explaining the Court process and family law proceedings, what happens when families go to Court, the role of the family experts, common questions that kids may often ask, stories from children whose families have been to Court and a glossary of words and terms commonly used by the Court.
